SNEAALAS recognizes other non profit organizations that support the human-animal bond. As an organization we also look for opportunities educate the public, especially young people, about the laboratory animal science industry.
SNEAALAS will be seeking opportunities to support the FFA and agriculture-education. As such, this year we will be sponsoring the Vet Science Career Development Event (CDE).
The FFA is a national organization for high school students who are enrolled in an agriculture education program. The FFA formerly stood for the Future Farmers of America, until the name was officially changed in 1988 to The National FFA Organization to recognize the growing diversity of agriculture. As described on their website:
"So today, we are still the Future Farmers of America. But, we are the Future Biologists, Future Chemists, Future Veterinarians, Future Engineers and Future Entrepreneurs of America, too."
The state of Connecticut has 20 regional agriculture education, agriscience and biotechnology, or aquaculture centers for students at the high school level. Depending on the offerings of a specific program, students may take classes in plant science, animal science, natural and environmental resources, aquaculture, and agricultural mechanics.
SNEAALAS recognizes that these programs are educating the future leaders of our industry.
